Clinical pharmacy in Turkey is still developing. The first clinical pharmacy education started with a bachelor’s degree at Marmara University in 1991 and Hacettepe University in 1994. Formal postgraduate training started in 2018 (clinical pharmacy specialization training). I graduated from Pharmacy in June 2014.

Relevant to this introduction, having worked at a Boston hospital for several years, for me DD and the pharmacy life just go hand-in-hand like chimichurri sauce and flank steak. As a student I thought that most people in healthcare would be highly competent professionals practicing evidence based medicine. This is far from reality.

Why did I go into pharmacy? The pharmacy specific spark first occurred through my own illness/medication side effects experience during high school and this experience is still something I carry with me everyday as a pharmacist as I now care for patients. So for me, pharmacy is the perfect blend of direct- ish patient care!
