And here is our regular feature in which we highlight a different person each week. This time around, we note that Gandeeva Therapeutics hired Matthew Lucas as chief scientific officer. Most recently, he worked at Black Diamond Therapeutics, where he was senior vice president, drug discovery. In the past, he worked at Yumanity Therapeutics, Cubist Pharmaceuticals, and Roche.
But all work and no play can make for a dull chief scientific officer. So in his spare time, Lucas likes to bake. “I have an Italian wife who cooks a lot, but I do the baking. I was a chemist by training, but I haven’t worked in a lab for a long time, so baking is like chemistry for me. I like to bake pizza, various breads, like focaccia. At least one day every weekend, I’ll bake bread for the week. I think I can make some of the best pizzas in Massachusetts, though.”
