Home Depot, other employers appeal Blue Cross Blue Shield antitrust settlement

Home improvement retailer Home Depot and two other, smaller employers are appealing a recent $2.67 billion settlement that covers allegedly anticompetitive behavior from Blue Cross Blue Shield insurers.

The appeals could potentially delay the release of the funds and the broader terms of the settlement, which U.S. District Judge R. David Proctor finalized in August.

Home Depot did not explain why it is appealing in its legal filing. The other employers that are appealing, Topographic and Employee Services Inc., likewise did not elaborate on their appeal. Home Depot’s attorneys declined to comment, and the company itself didn’t respond to an interview request. Attorneys for Topographic and Employee Services also did not respond.
