Work Shoes Roundup

As the weather gets nicer and so many of us are transitioning into new roles or heading off on rotations I figured now was the perfect time for a work shoes roundup post! I lived in a handful of favorite work shoes during rotations as an APPE student and have since added more favorites to the list. I’ll include any sizing recommendations with each shoe style if it differs from my usual 6.5!

Rothy’s

You can get $20 OFF your first order with THIS LINK!

The Point my personal favorite Rothy’s style! I think the point is so classic and helps to elongate your legs for fellow shorties like me out there. I always size up a 1/2 size (to a 7) in these. FYI all Rothy’s are WASHABLE!

The Flat another incredible classic option! I don’t personally have these rounded flats but reviews also recommend going up a 1/2 size for narrow feet or up a full size if you have wider feet. Just like The Point, these come in so many colors and Rothy’s is always releasing new colors!

The Square this flat is so stylish & is the perfect mix of the two classic beauties above. These are newer so they don’t seem to come in as many color options. Also recommended to size up 1/2 for narrow feet or a full size for wider feet in these.

The Loafer this option is great especially in the winter or anytime you want more of your foot covered! Because they come up higher on your foot I find that they are warmer than the other Rothy’s flats so they make a great staple to have in your closet. I also size up a 1/2 size in this style.

The Driver – this style is new and so cute yet sophisticated! These have a super steady bottom and also look warm and cozy for the colder months or just those cold hospital/office days. Per Rothy’s these tend to run TTS!

Birdies

Medical professionals (yes including us pharmacists!), teachers & military personnel can get 20% OFF their order using THIS LINK!

The Blackbird this style is so comfy and chic! It’s also the only Birdies flat that is washable which is a huge plus! I have two pairs of these one in my usual size which is admittedly quite tight so I went up 1/2 size in my second pair and they fit way better, so I’d recommend 1/2 size up in this style.

The Starling I don’t personally own this style but I think it’s such a classic fit and style. Birdies is constantly coming out with new patterns, colors and textures for these flats so make sure to check their site periodically! From reviews it looks like sizing can vary some say TTS, others say 1/2 up or down. To be safe I’d buy at least two sizes if you really love a color because they can sell out really quickly and returns are super easy with Birdies!

The Swan I absolutely love this style and the variety Birdies offers in it. The shoe is super flattering and elongating which is great for shorties like me. I also love wearing slides when it’s nice out and have had no problems with them at work. Thankfully ever place I’ve worked in healthcare has only a closed toe dress code policy so an open heel is perfectly acceptable. If you’re like me and love adding a bit of luxe to everyday work wear, you must check out the Swans with the crystal “bracelet” holy gorgeous (technically belong in the “luxe” section but it is the same style as the cheaper swans so I’m including in both).

Sam Edelman

Loraine Bit Loafer – This style is so so classic. You can pick a super timeless tradition color or rock one of the newer and stylish textures and colors. I had cheetah faux hair loafers as a student and absolutely loved them. A fun shoe is a great way to spice up a more neutral and basic work look IMO. I got tons of compliments as a student and never felt weird about my decision to go bold so I say GO FOR IT! These run TTS.

Linnie Bit Mule – This shoe is the perfect blend of the classic loafer style seen above and modern twist, hello backless! For anyone worried about if these are work appropriate, every institute I have worked in as a student or pharmacist has had a closed toe shoe policy (which these meet) and I’ve never had an issue with any open back styles. I love backless in the warmer months up north and I feel like they pair easier with dresses or non-work clothes compared to the traditional loafer style. These run TTS.

Felicia Ballet Flat – I don’t personally have these flats but wow to the internet reviews! So many people have said these are the best ballet flats they’ve ever tried and IMO the ballet flat style is a must have staple because it can pair well with any work wear and so many off the clock looks as well. Most reviews say these run TTS.
