The National Association of Chain Drug Stores' RxIMPACT is urging members to make 2022 the year of the pharmacy voter by engaging in the Nov. 8 elections that will elect 435 representatives, 36 state governors and more than 6,000 state legislators.

NACDS noted that nearly 20% of 2020 congressional races won with what’s considered to be a small margin of victory over the top-running candidate. Nearly 90 candidates running for U.S. Senator (12) and U.S. Representative (77) in the 2020 elections logged wins over top competitors with under 10% over the top competitor’s votes -- with nearly half of these races won by only 5% more votes.

"These 2020 numbers are practically double of what they were in 2016," NACDS said. "Mere votes decide the fate of incumbents running to protect their office, new challengers looking to acquire long-held seats and for Republicans and Democrats. Races are increasingly competitive, and your vote matters now – more than ever."

More than 50 company, association and pharmacy schools partnered in a special NACDS RxIMPACT Votes virtual event on National Voter Registration Day. Designed to bring the community together and build election awareness, the event featured Anderson and national elections expert Charlie Cook. NACDS urges people who haven’t yet researched who is running for offices in their area to visit this link and click on Look Up Candidates button. It prompts users to type in their zip code and address. When users click the "submit" button, a list of all federal and state candidates running for office will be listed by office, name and party.

"Our patients, profession, and industry are depending on you to engage in the 2022 elections to support your candidate of choice," NACDS said.
